Santo Cristo House was created to give both locals and visitors a comfortable, quiet place to stay right in the heart of Ponta Delgada.
It was once a family home, where the Sousa family gathered each year for the festival of Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres — children, in-laws and grandchildren all under one roof. Their descendants set out to keep the original building as intact as possible: the tiled panel on the street door, with its image of Senhor Santo Cristo, remains untouched, as does the furniture, some of it restored in a vintage style.
The house sits in a prime spot in the historic centre, a five-minute walk from Parque Atlântico shopping centre, parking, restaurants, bars and the hospital, with a bus stop right outside.
